Efficient Noise Reduction of Laser Scanning Data for Archaeological Survey

چکیده
Recently, a ground based laser scanning sensor is receiving more attention as an useful tool for real-time acquisition of 3D data, and its applications are proposed in various fields. For example, a topographic survey for archaeological sites is performed efficiently using a laser scanning sensor. A traverse survey is one of the typical methods for topographic map in archaeological sites. Usually, a traverse survey is performed using a total station, and only 2D planimetric map is obtained by traverse surveys. Therefore, 3D survey system is expected to generate DEM using ground based laser scanning sensor, and efficient visualization of topographic data. In this paper, the authors investigate efficient noise reduction method, and an efficient DEM generation for archaeological sites using a ground based laser scanning sensor.

Regarding the terrestrial laser scanning accuracy, one of the main problems is the noise in measured distance which is necessary for the spatial coordinates ́ determination. In this paper the technique of using the wavelet transformation for the reduction of the noise in the laser scanning data is described. This method of filtration is made in “post processing” and due to this fact any changes ...

In this paper an integrated approach for modeling complex archaeological sites is developed. Particularly, we describe a 3D modeling pipeline which integrates laser scanning and low-cost Photogrammetry over an emblematic Jewish tanneries situated in Avila (Spain). Due to its inherent complexity and the relevance of the archaeological site, Jewish tanneries constitute a perfect framework to put ...

One of the novel ultrasonic phased array based scanning methods for ultrasonic imaging in non-destructive test is total focusing method (TFM). This method employs maximum available information of the phased array elements and leads to an improved defect detection accuracy compared to conventional scanning methods. Despite its high detection accuracy, TFM behaves weak in distinguishing the real ...
